Following months of hard work, commitment and relentless pursuit by Loofball Sport Dev. Initiative (LSD Initiative), the organization's bid to formally introduce loofball in public primary and secondary schools within FCT received its approval from the FCT Universal Basic Education Board, UBEB on Tuesday 3rd December, 2019. This was achieved after series of successful presentations and follow-ups by the organization.
A total of nine schools comprising primary and secondary schools, all within Abuja Municipal Area Council, were approved for the pilot project.
Reacting to the approval, the Executive Director of LSD Initiative, Engr. Winner V. Matahula could not hide his joy, saying that the approval by UBEB is an indication that the Board were satisfied with the presentations by LSD Initiative, and also implies that the organization is moving in the right direction.
"This a massive breakthrough for all our members and supporters, and of course the potential beneficiaries (students). Our resolve to serve youth through sport has never been stronger. Our coming this far is a testament to the fact that we're taking the right steps.
"We are making important progress in research and development, networking and overall operations. Personally, I'm very humbled and grateful to God for making this a reality." He said.
The Executive Director however tasked members of LSD Initiative to observe ethics of the organization in the course of spreading the sport in schools, and also commended their efforts and organizational commitment.
The chief Operations Officer, Mr Essien Bob also expressed his delight for the approval, describing it as a victory not just for the organization, but the sports community and nation at large. He further said that the approval by UBEB will spur members of LSD Initiative to work harder in promoting loofball and uplifting the organization to greater heights.
